The first battle I chose was the battle of Britain. In this battle Germans bombed British cities but Britain did not back down. Britain was aided by new technology. Hitler realized his attacks weren't working well so he called off all attacks and then focused on the mediterranean.
I think this battle was important and significant because this battle showed the allied forces that hitlers attacks can be blocked or stopped. Germany lost Britain and Britain didn't gain anything but they kept their land.
The second battle I chose was the battle of Pearl Harbor. This day is also called the day of infamy. On dec. 7th 1941 Japan attacks Pearl Harbor. They sunk and/or damaged 19 ships. Dec. 8th, the following day, the u.s. Declares war on Japan.
I think this war is important because Japan attack the u.s and when the u.s. Declared war on Japan, it was the u.s. Entry into WWII.

Revoultions in Art
Romanticism- Emphasized feelings of what life should ideally be instead of what it really is. This focused on exotic beings, untamed nature, glorified heroes, and cherished folk tradition.
A Young Tiger Playing with its Mother,
Eugene Delacroix,
1830
This is an example of romanticism because you can see how unrealistic and emotional the sky is. The lions are exotic beings that are just lying relaxed. This is not realistic.
Realism- Showed live as it really was through hardships of daily life, common people, and extreme detail.

A Cotton Office in New Orleans,
Edger Degas,
1873
This shows what happened in a cotton office in a city like New Orleans. There are real people doing a real job, with no obvious emotions present. There is extreme detail in that you can see all the books and the words on the newspaper.
Impressionism- Captured the essence of a subject through reflections of colors and the beauty of the subject at a moment in time. In this type of art, the creator conveyed their impression on subjects.

Bridge Over a Pond of Water Lilies,
Claude Monet,
1899
This artwork shows how peaceful Monet thought this scene was. It is pretty and shows a variety of colors that are in everyday life, but Monet made the scene look very calm and easy.
